I’ve made myself three big New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Use up all my ‘new’ fabric
That is my fabric cupboard. The top shelf has all my never before used fabric – the untouched, waiting for the right protect fabric. The middle shelf is a random hodge podge of leftovers. Some large, if not oddly shaped pieces, others very small. The bottom shelf if random who knows what. My first New Year’s resolution is to use up everything on the top shelf and have a go at creatively finding uses for a good deal of the middle shelf.
2. Fix previously botched/ill fitting projects
I have a number of items I’ve made over the years which for one reason or anther didn’t quite work, and therefore hang in my closet unworn, month after month. Some are relatively simple fixes like taking out the side seams a bit, fixing the zipper or hemline. Others will require abit of attention like my Jasmine shirt I made a few years ago out of this adorable fabric with little apples – like most Colette patterns, the darts are too high on me. And when I made it up, I didnt take the time to properly adjust them. So I need to unpick quite a bit, lower the darts etc. My 2nd New Year’s Resolution this year is to fixed my botch jobs, alter things that don’t quite fit or admit they are never going to be warn and take them to the charity shop.
3. Knit a cardigan
So I know its a jump from having successfully knitted two scarves to knitting a cardigan (I’ll stipulate there that it will be the most simple of cardigans ever!) but I’ve loved knitting and been so inspired by the things I’ve come across in the last few weeks on my numerous trips to Loop. So there we have it, my 3rd resolution – Knit a blood cardigan (and make is wearable so I don’t have to add it to the long list of projects to be covered by my 2nd resolution).
